I really like the concept behind Neil Shearing’s Real Link Finder and I think it provides great value (because it’s free) but I still think it needs a lot of work…
Real Link Finder is a nifty little tool by Neil Shearing that is designed to help you find Blogs in your niche (using keywords you enter). It also has a couple of other filters that allow you to search via:
- number of comments (only 0-5 though)
- no follow tags
Being able to search for Blogs that don’t have no follow tags in their comments is a nice feature because leaving comments on those Blogs will not only gain you exposure but it will also get you some valuable back links.
The problems I see with the Real Link Finder are:
- the filter seems to return some pretty low quality Blogs
- the “search for # of comments” filter should be adjusted to allow for searches containing Blogs with more then 5 comments… possibly in groups of 5(5-10, 11-15, 16-20, etc.) up to 50 and then just include all Blog posts with 50+ comments
- a filter should be added to rank Blogs via their Page Rank and Alexa Rank
I get that this is a free tool and as such it does provide value. However, I’m a busy guy and I’d be willing to pay for a tool that had the tweaks I just mentioned…
Great idea for somebody to pursue if I don’t do it myself.

Thanks for your article about Real Link Finder. I tried it as well as Comment Kahuna, Comment Hut, and Fast Blog Finder. I stopped at Fast Blog Finder because it outperforms all other tools.
It seems that even the free version of Fast Blog Finder gives more blogs than Real Link Finder. It also shows the Domain PR and Page PR. What I primarily liked in Fast Blog Finder is the ease of managing found blogs. There is a way to sort the blogs by their URL, Domain or Page PR, type (DoFollow, NoFollow). You can also add the most useful blogs to your favorites.
Plus, Fast Blog Finder has very flexible search options. I mean you can specify yourself how many comments you want on the page and the program will find blog posts with the exact number of comments. Example of the search query is
“keyword phrase” + “2 comments”, “3 comments” etc
So, by now I think Fast Blog Finder is the best tool of its kind. Anyway, for me it works perfectly.
thanks for the review.
1: The filter doesn’t know a quality blog from a low quality blog, so any “low quality” results are down to your search parameters.
2: I don’t think it’s possible to search by groups of comments without monstrously long search engine queries.
3: This would require on-going support which would only be feasible in a paid product.
Neil.
Laura,
Thanks for the tip. Looks like an excellent piece of software and if it does everything you say it does… DAMN!
Neil,
Thanks for dropping by…
Personally, I would pay for any piece of software that would consistently build back links to my sites AND give more exposure to my Blogs and websites at the same time.
Might be something to think about…
I know my wheels are spinning.
