My review of  Willie Crawford’s Most Effective Traffic Generation Techniques

I bought this report from Willie Crawford some time late last year… I think it was like in December anyhow late in the year (it’s still available right here: http://top10trafficgenerationtechniques.com/) and what I wanted to do was basically list them all and talk about them and let you know what I think about Willie Crawford’s 10 Most Effective Traffic Generation Techniques. I’ve pretty much used all of these techniques at one time or the other.

1. Article Writing

Every time I hear one of these make money online gurus talk about how article writing is great for generating traffic I start to think that they’re just not building any websites and promoting them anymore… it’s like maybe they made some money back in the day but now they’re just talkin’ about this stuff like nothings changed!

I must suck at article writing because I can’t seem to generate any traffic from my articles and I’ve tried all of the techniques and strategies in the book.

Not only that but Google seems to be giving articles directories lower and lower quality scores so your articles are showing up lower and lower in the search engine rankings…

You’re better off placing those same keyword-targeted articles on your own Blog and working to get anchored back links for the same keywords back to your own site.

I don’t know about you but I prefer to move my sites up the search engine rankings… not somebody else’s.

2. Writing Viral Ebooks And Special Reports

You have to understand that to these make money online gurus it’s all about Ebooks and reports…

In my world Ebooks and special reports have lost some of their luster… there’s so much stuff to read out there that people don’t even know where to begin and frankly I don’t know of too many people out there sharing Ebooks with their buddies…

“Hey Buddy,

Read an interesting Ebook the other day… check it out when you get a chance!”

Have you ever received and email or invitation like that from one of your pals? Maybe I need a new set of friends, I dunno…

It all goes back to my core belief that make money online gurus can only teach you one thing and that’s to sell make money online stuff to people that know less about making money online then you.

Viral reports and Ebooks work in the make money online niche… not so much everywhere else.

3. Your Own Affiliate Programs

I’m not gonna spend too much time on this one… pretty much just look at the paragraph in Bold Red up a few lines…

Just try explaining to someone outside of internet marketing what the hell an affiliate program is… The first question out of their mouth will be:

“Is this a pyramid scheme?”

4. Public Domain Content On Your Sites

I think this Ebook that Willie Crawford wrote on traffic generation was probably found in the public domain…

Seriously, I think I saw this “tip” on an Ebook I bought on eBay several years ago. This “tip” has been recycled so many times that by putting public domain content on your sites all your doing is placing duplicate content on your sites… not a good idea.

5. Recycling Traffic

This is actually isn’t a bad tip for website optimization but not so much for traffic…

Basically Willie Crawford points out that you should always give your website visitors somewhere to go…

Yeah, it’s a great idea to have a clearly drawn out plan of what you want your visitors to do once they get to your site and then take steps in your website optimization to steer your visitors in that direction.

6. Email Newsletters To Bring Back Visitors

Man if you can do it by all means this is a good idea…

But more often then not in most niches I’m finding that people just don’t want to share their email addresses… they’re already being spammed and they go in with a lack of trust… it is what it is.

And in more competitive niches… say the make money online niche… people are giving away the farm to get people on their lists or they’re giving away software that just isn’t that good.

Keep this in mind though… you’re blogging, you’re writing articles here and there to submit to directories and now you’re writing newsletters… that’s a lotta writing that’s all I’m sayin’

7. Use Autoresponders to Bring Customers Back

This is too much like the last one… it’s sounds like he’s running out of ideas and a bit of warning from someone who had to learn a lesson the hard way…

When somebody buys something from you don’t just automatically assume that they want to hear from you again particularly via email… I mean if your only intention is to follow up then maybe (even then you’ll piss some people off) but if you plan on pushing other products… be careful.

8. Viral Software

Again very few people outside of the make money online niche know anything about software and even fewer are sharing software with their buds… See the big bold red paragraph above.

9. Joint Ventures

And the onslaught of stuff that only works in the make money online niche continues…

Sure there are joint ventures to be had in niches outside of the make money online niche but most businesses outside of make money online aren’t all to eager about sharing their list of leads and prospects with their competition…

10. Recapturing Misdirected Traffic

Not a bad idea really (redirecting traffic from say your 404 error page) but a good traffic generator?
