Afiliate Project X Reviewed and Revisited

by SWP on February 14, 2008

For all the noobs out there that aren’t even familiar with Affiliate Project X, you can check out the sales page here: Affiliate Project X. At the very least, check out the sales page and get a good look at what some good, compelling and riveting sales copy looks like and make sure to add this page to your bookmarked swipe files.

My big problem with most make money online eBooks, and this one is no exception, that are being sold for $47 – $197 is that they make stupid and ridiculous promises/claims and they deliver some really poor and sometimes outdated information.

Affiliate Project X was released in 2006 and even then most of the information was outdated…

The book sold like crazy because noobs who didn’t know any better were targeted by savvy internet marketers who knew exactly how to mesmerize them with spell-binding copy.

Sheeple who can’t think on their own and are looking for someone to show them exact methods and blueprints on how to make money online are the perfect prey for internet marketing gurus and are destined for failure!

Here’s a quick review of what I found in Affiliate Project X that’s worth mentioning:

The first lesson in Affiliate Project X is the pre-sell/leech method.

Aside from being a great way to promote products online, the pre-sell/leech method is also a great way to drive traffic to your website.

This method entails bidding on pay-per-click traffic but bidding only on brand names.

So if you were going to promote Affiliate Project X, you would bid on combinations of the terms: Affiliate, Project and X.

Brand name keywords are expensive, often copyrighted and extremely targeted.

In some niches you’ll be able to get away with bidding on brand name keywords and you should by all means do it because the people that are searching on these keywords are ready to buy (whatever it is they are searching for).

Now what makes this method so effective is that you send the surfer to a page where you review/pre-sell the brand name product. Obviously if you want to make money you write the product a glowing review and then send the surfer right along to the merchants page…

Brilliant method and it’s still being used all the time today. The only problem I have with it is that it lacks integrity if you’re just promoting the bajezus out of everything which is what most internet marketers do. You can usually spot it with headlines like this:

Don’t buy Affiliate Project X without reading my review!

Is Affiliate Project X a scam?

Don’t waste your money on Affiliate Project X!

You get the point…

Promoting products by giving honest opinions of them is a good way to promote products online.

The problem is that most internet marketers believe that every product under the sun is the greatest thing since sliced bread and promote accordingly…

Let’s call a spade a spade…

Most internet marketing gurus operating in the make money online niche are simply pushing products because their buddies asked them to.

Moving on…

Method# 2 is the affiliate diary which is basically setting up a squeeze page and building a list of opt-in email subscribers which you can promote other products to in the future.

Starting a newsletter and building a list of subscribers is a great way to make money online if you build a solid relationship with your readers and continually provide valuable information.

It doesn’t work so well if all you do is promote, promote and promote some more…

Method # 3 is the workhorse method which is basically article marketing.

If you’re not familiar with article marketing, it is a great way to build back links for your website and also a good way to generate some traffic to your site if you know how to write a good, incomplete article.

Here’s the best free resource on article marketing I know of: Bum Marketing Method.

Method # 4 is the thief in the night. I like the title but other then that it’s just basically some advice on how to “spy” on some of your competitors to see what products they are promoting.

Method # 5 is more of the same only the author mixes in a recommendation for a product you will need to make this method work…

This is, of course, all basic stuff (and it was back then also) but it doesn’t stop others from promoting it like it’s full of the latest and greatest secrets known to mankind.

This concept will never change.

You may want to think about that the next time you’re thinking about buying the latest and greatest make money online eBook…

The 3 biggest lessons I would take away from this book are:

  1. Build an opt-in list and start a newsletter
  2. Use brand names whenever possible
  3. Article marketing can be somewhat effective
