BANS Review

Build A Niche Store or BANS is a basically an eBay affiliate store builder in case you haven’t already heard of it… If you’d like to see what a BANS Store looks like here is one of the BANS Stores that I built: Used Golf Clubs. As you can see this store is relatively new and I haven’t really done much to it yet other then set it up and add products to it which took like half an hour.

I’ve been using BANS to build several eBay affiliate stores in all kinds of niches and this BANS review/ post is a synopsis of my experience with BANS and I’ll also give you my thoughts on where I think BANS will be in he future… on with my review of BANS.

The premise or idea behind BANS (or at least this is the strategy I have seen recommended and used by most internet marketers) is to build a BANS site, make a few bucks from it and then build another and another and then another…

As far as making money online goes, BANS is probably one of the easiest ways on the net to get started making money online and to earn your first few affiliate commissions. Since we’re on the topic of commissions…

Most internet marketers building BANS sites aren’t looking to make a ton of cash from every site (they’re usually hoping to average a dollar a day per site) and that’s a good thing because eBay affiliate commissions don’t pay out very well…

The Ebay affiliate program pays out 50% of the commission charged to the seller after the sale and currently that’s 8.75% for the first $25, 3.5% between $25.01 and $1,000.00 and 1.5% for anything over $1,000.01. You also get a $25 payout for new sign ups to eBay.

BANS stores are very easy to build. It’s a really easy script to upload to your server and it takes about half an hour to set a store up with multiple pages of products. That’s what really nice about it.

I also like BANS because it is powered by the eBay affiliate program… eBay is a recognizable brand and given the choice to buy something from a website they’ve never heard of before or something from eBay I’d be willing to bet most people would go with eBay because they recognize the brand…

Trouble with BANS

I’d say the biggest problem facing BANS today is the fact that it is being abused…

I think it would be a really good idea to limit the number of licenses sold… I think that would add a lot of value to the software and frankly I would pay more for it because the script really does kick ass. Please don’t look at my sample site and think that’s all that’s possible with BANS because there are some really nice BANS sites out there and I just did the bare minimum o get the site up.

Yeah there are a lot of internet marketers out there building hundreds of BANS sites and I think it’ll lead to some issues down the line with BANS possibly getting banned from search engines, social bookmarking sites and directories.

The above is both positive and negative I guess…

Negative because people are abusing the system and the possibility for repercussions exists

and positive because internet marketers are building hundreds of these things because the few they’ve built have made them money and now they’re just scaling their efforts.

A few of my keys to making money with BANS sites…

For the first few months I don’t mess around too much with customizing the look of my BANS site… at this point all I want to do is point links to it and find ways to get more content on the site. Once that’s done I’ll go back to customizing the site and doing everything I can to make it look as little as a BANS site as possible.

Other then that I would just say to make sure your product listings appear on the top half of your web page (above the fold). When someone clicks on your BANS link as soon as they get to your store they should see some product listings of whatever it was they were searching for. Make sure all of your content goes below the product listings and make sure there’s plenty of it for the search engines to eat up and get fat on…

Making money with BANS Sites is all about choosing the right niches… do your keyword research and make sure you build your BANS stores in niches where there isn’t a lot of keyword competition for the products you are pimping on your sites. This is important because it will be difficult to get links to your BANS sites… think about it they’re friggin’ affiliate stores so I wouldn’t expect to have webmasters lining up to link to your store mmm’kay?

Where I’m at with BANS right now…

I was originally going to build up 50 stores but I ended up stopping a bit short… I have somewhere between 25-50 BANS Stores and I’m no longer actively building any more… I’m just promoting and getting links wherever I can for the sites I already have.

I’m pretty much at the point where I have to see what kind of ROI I’m going to get from my efforts before building anymore sites. I’ll keep you posted…
