Without a doubt Wordpress Blogs have become my websites of choice when I decide to enter into new niches these days…
Straight up Wordpress Blogs are like search engine magnets when optimized correctly and installing the right Plugins into your Wordpress Blog is paramount to moving your Blogs up the search engine rankings.
Below is a list of my top 10 favorite Wordpress Plugins with a brief explanation of what they do and why like them so much.

You can pretty much drop in this Plugin to your Wordpress Blog and consider it optimized for the search engines… This Plugin will make your Blog a search engine magnet. This Plugin will allow you to add titles to your posts, add descriptions to your posts and optimize it for the search engines with keywords of your choosing. It’s a must have.
# 2 Popularity Contest

This plugin allows you to see which of your posts are most popular with your readers and it also allows you to enable a sidebar widget which will display your most popular posts.
You can see how it works on my sidebar here… I think it’s crucial because it allows a new reader/visitor to sift through your best content in a matter of seconds without having to read your entire Blog.
The more I think about it, it just seems rude to not have this for your readers…

I’m a big believer in direct response marketing and list segmenting and this plugin allows you to take advantage of both. This plugin allows you to target new readers to your Blog by reminding them to subscribe to your RSS feed at the top of your first post (message is customizable).

This Plugin is crucial for building “community” into your Blog. It allows your readers to subscribe to the comments of a particular post without having to return to your Blog to check for updates.
This is another one of those that just seems plain rude if you don’t have one…

This Plugin prevents your Blog from “over-pinging” the update sites by replacing the original feature in your Wordpress Blog. A good idea if you edit a lot… I know I do.
If you don’t already know your original Wordpress setting pings the search engines everytime you edit one of your posts and this can eventually get you in a little trouble if you edit tou much and the directories think you’re spamming them…
